Depression is a state of being in a low mood that affects the normal daily routine of a person. It could effect a person’s thoughts, behavior, feelings, and other activities. There are times when you want to go to solitude and you don’t feel like catching up with anyone or even talking to anyone. You just want to be left alone, in peace. You are not able to make decisions and you are able to think at all. There are so many factors that trigger depression in a normal person and some of them are listed below.

1. Stress

Increased stress leads to depression. Stress is of two types, healthy stress and abnormal stress. Too much stress could also lead to pathological stress in which every organ and function of body is implicated. Stress is a challenge from life, if a person fail to accept or overcome this challenge then he goes into the mode of depression. Sometimes this mode is irreversible.

2. Smoking

Smoking is an addiction and one of the major causes of depression. A person who smoke a lot is so much addicted to its effect that he goes into the mode of depression if he does not get to smoke for a while. Chain smokers top the list. It is very injurious to health but as a matter of fact, it provides some people with a soothing effect and they become so addicted to this effect that they cannot live without it anymore.

3. Relationship Problems

One of the most major causes of depression is relationship problems. No matter how physically string a a person is, you need to be strong from the inside too, to handle the issues in your relationships. People who are not able to do so, become depressed. Be it family problems, social or personal problems of any level, a person who is not able to cope with other things behind these issues, lose track of his or her life and eventually wears the mask of depression.

There are two kind of people. One, who are good decision makers and other who lack in making important decisions of life. Decision making is an art, itself. People who have too many choices get confused and become depressed at times, this is also a common cause of depression.

People who are prone to diseases and get ill very often become frustrated and tired of staying at home and not being able to go to work or school. There comes a point in their lives where they become so depressed of their daily routine. So, long term illness also plays role in becoming depressed.

Playing pranks on the new students and doing ragging is considered to be very ”cool”, but in reality, it leaves a very bad impact on the mind and body of the student who becomes a victim of all this. He loses his self confidence, become embarrassed and depressed. He does not feel like going to school and college anymore and that is not so constructive.

7. Insomnia

Lack of sleep or insomnia also leads to depression. Any disturbance in the sleep cycle is not healthy for the body and mind also. That is why, it is advised to take at least 8 hours of sleep so you could stay fresh.

Of course! How could we even think of missing this very point? Breakups play a very important role in making a person depressed with a feeling of self destruction. Losing a beloved one is one of the most greatest grief that tend to hit teenagers, now a days. They feel like this is the end of their life. They don not feel liek talking to anyone or going anywhere. It takes time to move on.

9. Financial Problems

Money has a great role in almost every aspect of life. People who are not financially stable tend to be more depressed than the ones who have money. Middle class and lower class people become so depressed by increasing inflation that they have to take antidepressants in order to overcome their depression.

10. Workplace Being Chaotic

A person’s mind and body needs a very peaceful place to work in. Many people do not like too much of noise or chaos. They usually run away from it. In order to earn, many such people have to work in a place which is not quite their tempo and that is one of the most major reasons of why they become depressed in doing so.
